The revision of the programme for . the annual show, to be hold on October 22nd, was the main business dealt with at a meeting of the General Committee of the Ellcsmero Agricultural and Pastoral Association held at Lceston on Thursday. Mr Joseph Brooks presided. The president referred to the loss sustained by Mr and Mrs I£. 11. Galpin in the death of, thc.V son, and made iclerence to the deaths ol' JJr. G. Gost>et, a lurnicr secretary and treasurer, and of Mr J. H. .Graham. It was decided to piaco ou record an appreciation of JLu\ Cosset's service. 'J ho Publisher ol Tub'l'ukss, 'replytng to a letter .with regard to tho delnery ol newspapers on postal holidays, stated that the matter had been taken up with the Chief Postmaster, who did not hold out any hope of rural mailmen delivering on Boxing l>ay, Easter Monday,. King's Birthday, or Labour Day. Campion were aoccpted. • For the Ground Committee, the secretary (Mr 11. Neave) reported that after an inspection of tho Show Ground the committee recommended that some minor improvements should be made to the women's room, it being considered that tho funds would not permit of any costly work being done. It was suggested that the old concrete tennis court should be removed, and that the loading banks in the ground and outside should be widened at the top. Tho report was adopted, and it was decided to hold a working bee to remove the court and extend the loadfng banks on July 14th. The Finance Cbmmittee reported that tho secretary had askad that his salary should be reduced by" 15 per cent. In view of the financial posir tion, it was . agreed that a charge should be made for the admission of ■members' cars. _ . The Sheep and Dogs Committee (Mr John Brooks) recommended That classes 44 and 47 for Corriedales should bo deleted; tliat class 48 should be for three liaifbrcd ewe hoggets; that classes 49 (crossbred) and 52 (fat sheep) shcAild be eliminated; that class 55 should read "three wethers most suitable for freezing, not to exceed 1351b M ; that classes 5G and 57 should be deleted; that no second prizes should be given in the sheep or dog •classes unless there were three or more entries, but that the points should count for section trophies; that classes 4, 8, and 9 for dogs should be deleted. The Cattle . Committee (Air 11. Schnelle) recommended that the fat cattle section should be deleted; that a class should bo inserted for three females—a cow and two of her progeny, to be br6d by exhibitor; that classes 20 in pigs should read ''Sow and crossbred litter of not less than six. 'under two months old." The flight Horce Committee (Mr H. Gardiner) recommended: That in hunters tho special prizes should be £2 S3 instead of £4 4s; that wings should be placed on the hurdles used for the pony jumping; that a cup should be awarded to the champion harness irony; that a ribbon should be awarded to the champion saddle pony; that the section for cobs and ponies should be out into two. The Clydesdale Horse Committee (Mr W. H. Abbott) recommended: Hi at in Section 11., class 71 (horse showing), should be deleted; that the Clydesdale Horse Society's medal should be awarded to class G6 (yearling filly). The dairy and domestic produce, junior, grain and roots, and poultry committee (Mr A. J. Inwood) recommended: That in the dairy and/domestic. produce classes the prizes shoulci be 6s, 3s. and Is, and entry fee 2s; that in the- junior cookery and junior, sections tho entry should be Is and the prize money 6s, 3s. and Is; that the pigeon classes should be deleted and that no prizes should be given for rabbits, entries to be for exhibition only; in grain and roots there niust be three or more entries or no second prize, butthafc awards be made for the points prize. The various reports were adopted. It was decided to reduce the entry fee to 6d in the junior section. It-was-agreed that the Finance Committee should revise the special prize list.
