Melbourne University fees .may. have to be reduced, says the registrar, w.ho points out that numerous requests for reductions have been received. "Sydney University is not likely to reduce its fees," the registrar, Mr Walter Selle, stated. "We have 3100 students, and one thousand of these pay no fees at all, having won exhibitions, etc. In special cases whereowing to diminished incomes—paying students have been faced with the necessity of giving up their course* wo have allowed them to continue without charge. This is made possible by our many fine bequests, and because at present the University . does not consider that a loss of income from its investments is probable."
