COUNTY COUNCILS.
HEATHCOTE. ■ A meeting of the Heathcote County Oouncil was held lest night. Mr J. h. Danks presided, and also present were Or#. 0. Flavtll, J. P. Scott, W. Kerr, J. H. Moore, and W. W. Scarff. The rates to'be levied for the period April Ist, 1931, to March 31st, 1932, were approved. The only alteration on last year's Saures was a reduction in the Avon riding, where the general rate will now bo id in the £. Belief Wages. The Department of Labour advised that the Council's allocation for relief wages for the current week hod been reduced to £893. That would allow for three and four-day jnen being employed this week. The letter was i received. Domain at Mt. Pleasant, The Department of Lands and Survey forwarded a transfer from the Council to the Crown of an area of 3 roods 37 perches at Mt. Pleasant for the purpose of a domain. The Council's consent was sought. ( The accompanying letter stated: "The Department has been in communication with the Commissioner, and suggested that a Domains Board comprising of five residents of Mt. Pleasant and the representative of that riding _ ex-offleio, be appointed. This will give the residents an interest in the Domain,_ and the Department has approved of this suggestion and asks the Council to call a public meeting of the local residents to elect the five , representatives, and also fixing a date,' time, and place for.the'first meeting of the Board. Consent to the transfer was given, and it was signed and sealed. The calling of the meeting of residents was left' to Cr. 'Williams. Cashmere Sewerage. The monthly meeting of the Springs County Council was held at Sprlngston on Thursday, when there were present Crs. J. S. Simpson lchairman), J. W.Kime, O. H. P. V. Bailey, J. H. The Council supported, a request made by the Ellesmere Agricultural and Pastoral Association that, should be made for delivery of newspapers on holidays when there were no mail deliveries by rural contractors. .
