BOOT MANUFACTURER'S ESTATE. ALLOCATION OF SHARES. I An action to interpret the will of Michael O'Brien, boot manufacturer, of Christchurch, in respect of the allocation of 14.648 shares set aside by him to provide income for his widow and two of his daughters, was heard at the Supreme Court yesterday before Mr Justice Adams. Mr O'Brien died on June: 14th, 1909, leaving a widow, who died 'on «une 12th, 1930, and six children, four of whom have since died. There are 14 grandchildren. Six thousand shares were set aside to provide income for the widow, 4324 for an unmarried daughter, since deceased, and 4324 for another daughter, Mrs E, P. Mills, who married in 1921. The will was made on November 21st, 1907, with a codicil dated January 23rd, 1909: The Parties Concerned. The plaintiff was John Henry Stringer, of Christchurch, accountant, as trustee of the will of Michael O'Brien; the defendants being Arthur Boniface O'BrieA, of Christchurch, medical practitioner; Emily Florence Mary Mills, of Wellington, married., woman; Muriel O'Brien, of Sydney, spinster; Arthur Joseph O'Brien, manager of O'Brien's boot factory; Sydney Lawrence O'Brien, clerk; Mavis O'Brien, assistant musical director at pictures; Francis Patrick O'Brien; Desmond O'Brien, clerk; Ethne O'Brien, schoolgirl; Emma Jane Hortense O'Brien, widow; Lupy Cecilia O'Brien, widow; and Rose O'Brien, widow, all of Christchurch. Mr E. "W. White appeared for the plaintiff, Dr. A. L. Haslam for Arthur Joseph O'Brien, Mr W. M. Hamilton, with him Mr W. E. Leicester, for Mrs Mills, Mr J. H. Upham for Dr. O'Brien, and Mr R. A. Cuthbert for Emma Jane Hortense O'Brien, Lucy Cecilia O'Brien, and Rose O'Brien. Legal argument concerning the intentions of the testator concerning the apportionment of this portion of his estate was heard. from counsel concerned.
