GERALDINE STOCK SALE.
At the fortnightly stock «al» at Geraldine | prices were inclined to ease. The entry was quite good ior th« time of the year; but few really first-class sheep were penned. There were practically no store sheep at the sale. Ewes—Good ewes remained firm in valu* top price realised being 9s 6d. Poorer conditioned lines were less sought after. The weather was very bad and the attendance of, buyers was small; prices were slightly easier than at last sale. Tho following prices were realised: Fat Lambs—One at 17s 9d, 12 at lis sd, 18 at 10s, 66 at, 10b. liwes: One at 12s, I'J at 10s, 7 at 6s Id, 16 at 4s 6d, 13 at os. Wethers: 52 at 16b 3d, 32, a,t 10s, 3 at 15s 9d, 2 at 15s 6d/9 at 15a 3d, SS7 at 33s 7d, 10 at 12s 2d, 8 at lis, 9d, 14 at lis, 8 at 6a 6d. Fat sheep met with, a keen demand at Bufnside to-day. • Quotations were from 2s to 3s higher than was the case last week. Fat cattle, with the, exception of good prime sorts, >vere easier by about 10s per head. Store cattle remained unchanged. The pig market had a Blightly better tone, prices for tats being about 5s per head higher. About 1709 fat sheep were, penned, the quality being only fair, with a small proportion of extra prime wethers. The bulk of tho penning comprised average to good owes, with a sprinkling' of fine-wo oiled wethers from Central Otsgo. Thero was a keen demand, and, values were up by from 2s to8s per head. Extra prime wethers made up to 235, prime to 21s, medium to 18s, light to 15s 6d, extra prime ewes to 17s 3d, prime to 15s, medium to 12s 9d, old. and inferior to 9s 9d. „ The penning of fat lambs totalled 789. The quality was not up to late standards. Prime sorts sold on • par with late rates, but light-weights and seconds were cheaper by frora Is to Is 6d per head. Extra prime made up to 235, prime to 19s 6d, others from 8s 6d to 16s 6d. Only 176 head of.fat cattle were yarded, comprising mostly medium to good bullocks, with a couple of trucks of prime sorts. All prime cattle met with a good demand, with valuos a shade better than last week. Other sorts wore'easier by 10s per head. Extra prime bullocks made, up to £l4 ss, prime : to £l2 15s, light and medium from £6 Ss to -M £lO ss, extra primeeows and- heifers to £9, j I prime to £7 15g, old and inferior from £3 16s to £6 ss.
