question of reduction. FARMERS EXPRESS APPROVAL. "It is very gratifying to find that the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce is in favour of a reduction in interest rates," said tho chairman (Mr Colin Mcintosh), at yesterday's meeting of the executive of the North Canterbury branch of tho New Zealand Farmers Union. . . Mr J. D. Hall: How will tho reduction be worked ? < The chairman': I don't know, but a scheme can bo tried. Mr Hall: Why not cut them down by 10 per cent,, in company with the wages? Mr D. J. Jlpwke: It is a big question, and one that needs careful consideration. 'The chairman: Anyhow, the move is in the right direction. Mr Hall: Contracts made out of New Zealand could not bo interfered with. It is unfair, however, that wages should be cut and that tho people receiving interest should still be on the full rate. The chairman: lam suro we all feel that it is encouraging to have the Chamber of Commerce behind us in this matter.
