ENCKE'S COMET.
BOON VISIBLE IN SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE (PRESS ASSOariTIOR TXtEOBAK.) WELLINGTON, June 24. The New Zealand Astronomical Society has received a cablegram from the International Astronomical Union, Copenhagen, announcing the rediscovery of Encke's oomet. This is a short period comet, about 3£ years on this occasion. It was discovered about June 22nd, when it was relatively bright, being of the ninth magnitude. Its right ascension at the time of its discovery on June 22nd was 7 hours 35 minutes north, declination 8 degrees 22 minutes. It is travelling south and east and is near tho ftar Procyon. On June 22nd it was about two degrees north of the star, the oomet now getting into a good position for observation in tho southern hemisphere.
