Waugh (Havelook North) mare a stirring appeal to the General Assembly of the Preabyterian Church on Friday evening, on behalf of lona College, which had - suffered, damage in the Hawke's Hay eatthouako. The College Council had, he said, consulted several authorities, and were advised that it would require ap- • proximately £BOOO. to make the building safe and earthquake-resisting. Tliere was uo possibility of securing assistance in the Hawke's Bay area at Lhe present time.
