CHRISTCHURCH CLUB.

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. The conditions were all' that, could bo desired for harrier running on Saturday afternoon, when the Christchurch Harrier dub conducted its junioi championship over a course of about four miles and a hilf at Hagley Park. 6. H. Watson, holder of the Awatoa Cup, which goes with the championship, retained hia title after , a good run, the runner-up being W.«Coburn. The course led along tha United Tennis Club's drive, across Riccarton avenue into Hagley Park, across the park to- the saleyaids, then along the edge of the park to. Hospital Corner, across the Antigua street Bridge, along Rolleaton avenue, into Hagley Park at the Armagh s.treet Bridge, along the park to Carlton Bridge, round inside the park to Itiocarton> road, along Riccarton avenue, finishing along the United Tennis Club's drive. , The field started at an easy pace, and when they had settled down the • order was Coburn, Bowden, Hervey, Blanchatd, and Watson, with the others following in close order. After about a mile Watson took the lerfd, with Coburn, Blanchard, and Bowden following. ' Half a mile or eo further on Coburn again went to the front, Watson, Bowden, Hervey, and Blanchard following in that order. Watson was in front when tyap reached the Hospital Corner, .there being little change in the order of the others. Watson maintained his lead from then on, winning- by about two hundred yards from Coburn, who boat the rest of the field comfortably. The detailed result was aa follows: Or. H. Sayops, congratulated Watson and Coburn on their performances, both runners responding. Mr Sayers thanked the United Tennis Club and its groundsman (Mr Campbell) for their assistance. Be also thanked the ladies present for entertaining the runners. Meadames W. R. Olliver, D. Kane, R. J. Watson, and C. M. Dymond responded. Next, Saturday the club will hold a three miles race at Riccarton Racecourse over the Kennett Cup course.

METHODIST CLUB. I The run on Saturday w .held from the residence of Dr. Simpson, Biccarton. The trail-layers-—E. King and h. Simpson—gave the packs about seven mile* of fairly even country to cover, the course through the country on the outskirts of Fendalton and Riecarton. On' Saturday the Baptist Harrier Club held its annual race at Riecarton racecourse over an approximate distance of three and a half miles. The strong wind made thei running vwy difficult, especially In the. back straight, whW® the runners spent most of their energy. There were 25 starters, and the limit men left 41mln before the scratch man. Park. Passing the stand at the end °f the first lap, Ormrod, the limit man, .was in the lead, running strongly, closely followed by Bell. Wilton, Watts. Dawson, and Mjlner in that order, with the backmarkera still well back. In the second round Bell, who was showing good form, passed the leading man and inoreased his lead by forty yards to aeore i a good win.
