Mc- j Taggart, at an afternoon tea given itt honour of Miss - Christian. ; A vote of appreciation was recorded by the Grey Hospital Board to Mr George Harker, a past member of the Board, for his valuable services in Ma four years of office during which his knowledge and recommendations resulted in a greater efficiency in the cooking department, and a considerable saving in costs. Mrs R. Garlick and Miss R. Gallop (Ikamatua) left to-day on a visit to, Wellington. The Rev. W. Bell, vicar of St. Stephen 'e Church, Reef ton, who has been ill in Wellington, returned to-day to Reofton. Valedictory. Mr E. W. Henderson, who, for the past year; has been railway locomotive foreman at Greyinoiith, and with Mrs Henderson left to-day on transfer to Addington, was said'good-bye to by the staff of the Westland section on Friday/ and presented with a fountain-pen and an eversharp pencil for himself, and a xylonite set for Mrs Henderson. Mr H. Daniel presided at the function and the presentations were made by Mr C. L. Thompson. Mr .T. Cornish, Aet-ing-16comotive foreman, will take over Mr Henderson's duties for the present. Factory Manager Injured. Mr C. Barrett, manager of the cheese factory at Herepo, South Weatland, had the misfortune to sever two fingers, whilst cutting firewood with a power saw a few days ago. Bowling Orecn. The secretary of the Greymouth Bowling Club, Mr A. A. Adams, hag received a request from Norfolk Island, where - it is proposed to form a bowl* ing green, asking the particulars of the turf used, it being understood that the green was one of the best turfed in the Dominion. . Bankruptcy. A meeting of the creditors of the estate of Lancelot George Iggo, dealer, of Greymotuli, was held on Thursday in the office of the Deputy-Official Assignee, Mr A. Navlor. Four ereditors*wer© represented, t'he debts totalled £129 2s 10a, and the assets assessed at £12(1 10s 3d, leaving a deficit , of £8 12s 7d. The bankrupt stated that tho issuing of a distress warrant by Geo. Webster, a creditor, for rent, had precipitated his filing I>o protect his other creditors. The Deputy Official Assignee said he had taken possession of bankrupt's assets which were being realised for the benefit of the eredit&sa. No uSer was made, and the meeting closed after a short passage at arms between bankrupt and Webster. Motor Accident, A motor accident occurred on the road between Greymouth *nd Gladstone

Ilia death occurred oa Friday evening of -Mrs Maria Sheard, of Bufianga, an old resldent of the town, aged 67 years.Mrs Sheard, who was a native of Yorkshire, England, came to New Zealand in 1884, living in Brunnerton for 23 years and then moving to Bunanga. She is survived by her husband, two sons, and one daughter.," Automobile Association. , The Greymouth branch of the Canterbury Automobile Association met out Friday eveniag, Mr G. B. Harker presiding over a good attendance of members. : Mr M. Wynyard, the motorists' representative on the Main Highways Board, wrote ((applying details of the proposed bridge Over the Waimakariri and pointing out that if the work werecarried out as an unemployment scheme all of the dost would have to be borne by. the Board. The secretary stated that more were being obtained and it was intended to complete the chain between Taipo and Arthur's, Pass.
