"LAWFUL LARCENY." * Playing" a straight dramalio role, Bebe Daniels is seen'at horbest in "Lawful Larceny," which will start on Monday at the Majestic Theatre, which for general entertainment touches a very satisfactory level. She delivers her lines with 'finish and- with a fine personality,- gets across a neat piece of 'Work.! Lowell 'Sherman,, who * also 1 - directed'-"the nun,, runs her close for the acting honours though, his comedy adding greatly to the film's appeal, Sherman reveals himself as an actor who is set for bi£ things in the lightcomedy field, as well as a- particularly capable director, and in him Badio have an -actor who. should mean much in the future. ' Olive Tell and Ken Thompson are others mr. nftely * n 8 well-balanced cast. The story .concerns.a young married man who falls for the, wiles of' a woman controlling a fashionable gambling saloon. She professes affection, and it is not long before he is won away from his wife . . and laddie. However, when his money goes and bankruptcy faces him, ho. decides to contest}. The wife eees things in the right way. and wuen she learns that the woman • holds a promissory note, the .presenting ot which will ruin her husband, she decides to cet it "and also the money that hubby had lost. Accordingly, tho wife adopts ,her maiden name and obtains a post as the woman's secretary, thus having access to all her business. First the promissory note, matter is adjusted satisfactorily, and then the w!f« sets out-to do a bit of heartbreaking to even the score. She steals the woman'f best boy friend and thus achieves this obJert Then® the cash gets her interest, and taking it home she awaits results.
