WILLING HELPERS.

APPEAL FOR Y.M.C.A. BOYS' WORK. many offering services AS COLLECTORS. "So far we have had quite a good response from those willing to act collectors, but we need a few hundreds more," remarked Mr A. J. McEldowney, general secretary of the -Y.M.C.A., to a representative of Thh Press, who enquired yesterday how arrangements were progressing *in connexion . with the preparations for the street appeal to be made on Friday, June 12th, on behalf of the boys' work of the 01.C.A. ; "As i$ every street appeal, even " you have the sympathy of the public, you • won't get results," Mr McEldowney continued, "unless you have a goodly number of collectors, and Mr S. vV. Jameson, of Messrs W.-Jameson j and Son, the honorary organiser, and i myself are aiming to secure, the services. of at. least 500 collectors. There seems to be a greater willingness n° w to help with street collections than has been the. case for some years. This is probably due to the fact that appeals for Christmas gifts for P°° r families,-and for the relief of the sufferers by the Hawke's Bay earthquake have led people to realise that when the cause is a worthy-one,-street collecting is not a very difficult task. Judging by the, response we have had to" our call for helpers, very, many 'J 1 the community appreciate the work ; being-done amongst " boys by the ' Y.M.C.Am and also the necessity f? r supportine*. that workr—especially these difficult times: Mr Jameßon and myself will be very elad to hear, from others .who - are willing, to assist.
