ROYALTY REDUCED TO U (PEESS ASSOCIATION TSLSOKAK.) WELLINGTON, May W. Cabinet has decided to reduce the royalties payable : to the State on opossum skins from la to 6d with the usual condition that an extra 3d. shall be payable for late stamping or stamping outside the district in 'which the aniuyils are taken, , Many persons undertake , opossum, trapping as a profitable occupation during the season, and. there is a likelihood of a number of men at present unemployed seeking a livelihood by this means. : S i The Minister for Internal Affairs, the Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, said to-day that Cabinet had had the question of reducing the royalties ■ on skins under consideration for some time. The step had been taken to assist trappers who were suffering from the fall m the price obtained for the skins.
