Auckland—The weather was clear and sunny yesterday, but a light southerly wind made conditions cold in the shade. After rising sine© midday on Thursday the barometer registered 30.40 last night. Wellington—The southerly storm which sprang up on Thursday evening continued throughout the night and yesterday morning. Towards noon it died away, and tho remainder of the day was fine though cold. . Dunedin —Following a bleak night, with heavy rain and sleet, tho 'weather was fin© and sunny yesterday. The wind was light from the south-west. The barometer, which rose over 50 pointa during Thursday, was steady at 30.15. Forecast. General Situation —A rather intense anticyclone has movod on to New Zealand. A fresh depression has already reached southeastern Australia, and is moving rapidly eastward. ' Winds —Southerly in and north of Cook Strait. • Still strong in the far north and about Bast Cape, but moderating northerlies

in the far south, extending to New Plymouth and Napier to-morrow and freshening. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Still rather rough, but moderating. Eastern Tasman Sea—Winds with a tendency to northerly and freshening; seas smooth to moderate. Weathtr —Still somo showers between Castlepoint and East Cape and in the extreme north, but improving; fine elsewhere, but becoming unsettled again to-morrow in the far south; temperatures cold, with somo frosts, but milder to-morrow.
