WORK; OF'' THE .WEEK., Yesterday, at 5 p.iA., the St. JotinFreo Ambulance Service had responded to 50 calls 'for the week—32 of vUicljnecessitated .transport,, toy JTI» >. number of -calls' . one day J of -the week was - received on Saturday, wiiejr 13' patiehts were givenf first aid attention by the Nureing Sis'ters of St. John. i Ambulance Divisions. ■ The Christchnrch Railway Ambulance Division held its weekly meeting in the Railway Social Hall, Carlyle street, on Monday evening, there, being, a good attendance ofmembors. Corps Superintendent J. Dickson -took chnfg®,■ and put members through a course of hand seats and the loading and unloading of stretchers. At the dose of the meeting members were detailed for' public duty for the .ensuing week. qffie number of cases treated by this division for the week was 61. •The usual meeting of the \>nrisschurch Men's Ambulance Division was held in the brigade rooms on Wednes--day evening. There were twenty-six members on parade under Superintendent W. Woottou, and after the busrness of the evening, members adjourned to a lecture on "Nervous Diseases.' by Dr. Gordon llicli. The nervous and sympathetic systems were fully explained and laier a practical demonstration was given showing the treatment given for the different' diseases of the nervous system. There parade under first officer- G. Hogarth. The work of the evening consisted oi practice in roller bandaging. The following Were detailed for public dutv on Saturday:—A. After arrangements were mad© for public duty with the St. .John Free Ambulance and members detailed for duty at Lmwood and Monica Parks on the iady superintendent took squads for tests m first aid, while the remainder carried out individual first aid work.. The No. 1 Girl Guide Nursing Division met at the Brigade rooms on Tuesday evening. There attendance of membera under Miss C O'Rorke, acting lady ambulance officer. At the close .of the meeting twd members were mthlic duty with the St. John *ree Ambulance service, and 6ix members for duty on the Hagley Park- basketl.nll and hockey grounds. 'Members of" the Selwyn Nursing DMsion met on Tuesday at: the Brigade rooms in Gloucester street. There was a good attendance of "members and Mrs Angus, lady superintendent, presided over the _ meeting. Public duties were arranged ior the St. John Free Ambulance on Wednesday and Thursday, and also for North li/gley and Lancaster Parks on Saturday afternoon. . .
