' Golf. J The Diamond Harbour Golf Club will play a L.G.U. medal match and a men'a medal match to-morrow afternoon. Tho Lyttelton Golf Club will hold a medal match at Char tens Bay on Sunday. The Ladies' Club will al so p i a y a medal match. Trains Delayed. Traffic on tho Lyttelton line was held up for over half an hour yesterday afternoon through the breakdown in the tunnel of the engine of a goods train. Tho passenger train which left Christchurcb at 1.15 was delayed at Heathcote and did not arrive at Lyttelton until after 2 o'clock. 1 Harbour Light Theatre. "So This is London?" a comedy starring Will Rogers and Irene Rich, will be repeated at the Harbour Light Theatre to-night, together with a comedy and a Fox News. To-morrow "Wild Company," an alltalking and singing romance featuring Frank Albertson and Sharon Lynn will bo screened. The supporting programme includes a Paramount News, songs, and a comedy. An Appeal. Ensign A. W. Barnes, in charge of the local Salvation Army corps has had several appeals from distressed parsons lately, and has met them so far as he is able. At present he is in urgent need of a suit of clothes to fit a small man, and also a pair of boots, size 4, the case,' Ensign Barnes states, being a particularly deserving one. May Day Party. A Children's May Day Party, for children in plain and fancy dress, will be held in the Excelsior Hall to-mor-row afternoon, under the auspices the Lyttelton Plunket Society. An attractive programme has been arranged for the little ones, including ballet dancing, folk dancing, and games., Sev- i eral prizes will be awarded for fancy "/Ostumes. Miniature Rifle Club. The president's team opened the winter tournament during the week, with a win against Ford Motors, Ibo scores being Lyttelton 531, Ford Motors 52C. Highest scorers for Lyttelton were: L. Symonds 70, T. Mills, J. Wyatt, and H. McDonald 68 each. Next week tho juniors and president's will meet two toams from tho Working Men's Club on the home range.
