Complaints regarding the method of repairing the streets of the City, and especially in respect of dealing with pot-holes, are likely to disappear as the result of the use of the tamping machine recently added to the equipment of the City Council's Works Department. The f peration of this machine immediately after a pot-hole has been filled with asphalt is to consolidate the material thus preventing the dispersal of some of it by traffic. The tamper already has been used with success, but lias not been 'in use long enough to provide 'definite data as to the savings effected by its use, and as to the extent of the improvement over the method previously followed.
