COUNTY COUNCILS.
AKAROA. A mooting of the Akaroa County Council was held on Monday last. Present: Messrs C. B. Thaclrer (chairman), W. W. Williams, W. H. Taylor, A. A. McPhail, and R. A. Mould. Mr McPhail reported that there was n lot of straying stock on Summit road from Le Bon's to Okain's. It was resolved that the ranger ba instructed to impound all stock on the roads and also in the scenic reserve. Tho clerk reported that the Lands Department had vested the reserve in the Council as from January Bth, 1931. Tho Pioneer Sports Club wrote aßking if any competitors in the recent trials had broken any of the by-laws, as if none had been broken the members of the club could not understand the Council prohibiting its trials in tho county. It was decided to reply stating that the competitoiH disturbed church Bervices witU speeding; also that certain roadß which wero dangerous at an/ time were used. It was resolved to sue a ratepayer for allowing stock to wander on roads. The foreman reported having completed the wall at Duvauchelle, and .that be was now engaged in maintenance work. It was resolved that all rates be collected by May 20th, 1931. The finance receipts wore £3073 18s lid, the accounts for payment £54() 7s 6d, and the debit balance £550 16s 2d.
