In the Magistrate>s Court yesterday, before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., John Howard Tapp was fined 30s and costs for being in possession of an unlicensed wireless set. Similarly charged, Percy Jarden was convicted and ordered to pay costs. A very simple centenary celebration has recently passed, a sermon having been preached in the Church of Rothwell, Leeds, in memory of John Blenkinsop, buried there 100 years ago. John Blenkinsop invented the rack railway, the device by which an engine with a cog-wheel fitting into'a toothed rail can climb heights or pull weights which it could never manage with smpoth wheels on smooth rails.
