Lord Bothermeie's Eely. fLord Eotliermere replied to Mr? Baldwin's attack. In the course of-his letter he says:— ' , "At least two months before the General Election of 1924. my son, who was then the. M.P. : for Thanet, addressed a letter to Mr Baldwin stating that 1 was very concerned ~ai s the Socialist menace, and that I pledged myself, with all the newspapers I controlled, to exert iny maximum influence to return the Conservative Party at the election, which could not then be far distant. This letter was replied to by M? Baldwin. ■ "Mr Baldwin's impulsiveness has once more led him astray. I must confess to some astonishment that Mt Baldwin does not verify his facts. He could easily have done so in this instance, a;a record of the tetter from my son muM be on his files." More than 30 German spies were cauglit in Britain durins; the Great War. Of this number 12 were shot. Only three women spies were broti<:!>' to trial, and no woman spy suffem the death penalty in Britain. A mysterious "rain" of tens of tliou*ends of butterflies and moths fell ; various parts of Brussels recently.
