X"' The following are the movements of Union Company vessels in its inter-colonial cargo service:— The Gabriclla was expected to leave Newcastle on Monday for Wellington, and is due there next Sunday. The Kalingo was to leave Wanganui on Monday for Greymouth, thence to Sydney and .Newoastlc. . Tho Karepo, from Adelaide and Edithburg, left Melbourne on Friday for New Plymouth, Auckland, Portland, Napier, Wellington, and Lyttelton. She is due at New Plymouth on Friday. The Karetu, from Sydney, Newcastle, and Fiji, is due at Auckland to-morrow and returns to Newcastle and Sydney. The Kiwitea was to leave Auckland yesterday for Newcastle to load for Miranutr and Lyttelton. The Poolta was to leave Gra-fton on Monday for Port Stephens, Newcastle, and Sydney to complete loading for Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Greymouth. The Waikouaiti was to leave Newcastle on Monday for Sydney and Hobart to complete loading for Bluff. Dunedin, Lyttelton, Timaru,' and Oamaru. The Wainui left Bluff on Monday for Melbourne to load for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington. 8h« is, to leave Melbourne on May 6th, and is duo here on Hay 13th. DEVON ARRIVES. TL'e Federal liner Devon arrived in the stream early yesterday morning from Glasgow, and, after pratique had been granted, she berthed at the Gladstone Pier to commence loading. 8h"o brought no oargo. At Colon she receiv.ed orders to proceed to Port Chalmers, -but later she was diverted by radio to Lyttelton Fine weather was met with all the way across the Pacific until Sunday, when a heavy southwesterly swell was encountered. Captain G. Kinnell is in command of the Devon, and he hae associated with him the following officers:—Chief officer, Mr F. G. Tether; second, Mr J. Marks; third, Mr G. Chaplin; fourth, Mr M. Wilmott; surgeon, Dr. S. W. Earlo; chief engineer, Mr J. "IT. Smith; second.. Mr' E. E. Niohol; third, Mr It. H. Campbell; fourth, Mr G. M. Rhodes; fifth, Mr D. E. Thomas; sixth, Mr W. Rowlands ; seventh, Mr F. Monti; chief refrigerating engineer, Mr J, H. Young; second, Mr -R. N. Cam bray; wireless operator, Mr J. McCarthy; chief steward, Mr J. H, Gee. The Devon carries thirty-four cadets. PORT NICHOLSON TO LOAD. The C. and D. steamer Port Nicholson- is due at Lyttelton on Saturday from Napier to' load meat. - She is to sail the same day for Wellington to complete, and is to leave Wellington on Wednesday next for London, via Montevideo. PAKURA TO DOCK. The Pakura is due at Lyttelton to-morrow from Gisborne and will go into dock. She is to load .here on Monday for Waikokopu, Tolaga Bay, and Tokomaru Bay. * THE SOMERSET. . The Federal liner Somerset,', which is loading to the agency ,of the New Zealand Shipping Co., Ltd., sailed from Lyttelton < yesterday for Wellington to - complete. She is to sail finally from Wellington on Friday for Halifax, Hook of Holland, and London, via Panama and Curaoao. " SHIPS IN BALLAST. During the past three days two overseas steamers, the Gallic and the Devon, have arrived at Lyttelton from Great Britain in 'ballast, bringing no oargo e.t. all. No fewer than 'five otherahips are now on their way out to New Zealand in ballast.'They are the Norfolk from London, the Pakeha from New-caftla-on-Tyne, the TstrariaM from London, the Zealandio. from London, and the Northumberland"'from Glasgow.
