Brownlie (Labour) 30,075 Dr. Betty Morgan (Liberal) ... 15,020 The result is a Conservative gain. The voting for the same seat at the General Election in 1929 was:— Dr. Marion Phillips (Labour) 31,794 Mr Alfred Smith (Labour) ... 31,065 Sir Walter Raine (Con.) ... 29,180 Mr Luke Thompson (Con.) ... 28,937 Dr. Betty . Morgan (Liberal) 21,300 Sir John Pratt (Liberal) ... 21,124 MR SNOWDEN AND BUDGET. LONDON, March 27. It is practically certain that M* Philip Snowden (Chancellor of the Exchequer) will present the Budget: He has made a wonderful recovery* Experts are daily at Farnham, discussing the final details .with him, though two nurses are in attendance to. see that the Chancellor does, not overtax his strength. DECLARATION TO LABOUR.

Mr Lloyd George said:—"The Liberal Party is completely independent; and, because we ■are independent, we can say to the Labour Party: A lf you carry certain measures we will co-operate with you.' We are asking the Labour Government to get on with the job and not shirk it. We know the risks we arte running, and are willing to run them if we can see a chance of the accomplishment of our great aims—peace and disarmament,, armony in India, the establishment of free trade the defeat of the protectionist regime, and the reconditioning and re-equipment of this country Ito make it the equal of; or better | than, any in the, world."
