MEN FROM VERONICA ENTERTAINED. NAVY ,LEAGUE EVENING. "The petty officers and men of H.M.S. Veronica, now in port in Lyttelton, were entertained by the Navy League at the, Navy League rooms on Saturday evening. The evening's entertainment was assisted by the men themselves, who gave songs and other items. Some clever cartoon sketching, by Stoker Bickerdyke, and songs by Stoker Jackman, were followed by songs by members' of the Navy League, and a hornpipe, danced by Miss Joyce Fraser, and a sword dance by Miss Marjorie Fraser. Mr Fraser played bagpipe accompaniments for both these dances. The guests were then shown moving pictures of Christchurch. and of Kings-iror.d-Sinith's trans-Tasman flight. Supper was served by tho women members of the League, and the rest of the evening: was spent in dancing. FUNERAL. MRS J, RUSSELL BRUNT. The funeral of Mrs J. Russell Brunt, who died .on Friday last, took place yesterday at tho Bromley Cemetery. Before the funeral procession left the house, Mrs Brunt's youngest son recited a brief office, including verses from her favourite .hymn, "For all the Saints." WEDDINGS. BAKER-WILSON. The wedding was celebrated recently nb the Durham Street Methodist Church of Olive Maud, only daughter of Mr and Mrs R.
