This year's Linwood School swimming carnival -was held in the school baths under excellent conditions • proved a very irieresting competition. Canterbury Amateur Swimming Club held a most successful inter-club caw nival at the Municipal Baths on Saturday afternoon to mark the closing of the swimming; season. There wa3 a large attendance oi the public. Outside clubs wore well represented, and pil the events were closely contested. The following Christchurch clubs were represented: Fendalton. ChristchurcH, East Christchurch, Elmwood, United,, and Sydenham. Representatives were also present from the Kaiapoi Club. Miss R. Low*, of United, and Miss S. Ciuripoell, of East Christchurch, wort also present. The. former gave a bplewlid display of swimming and put up a performance in .the 50yds women's inter-club handicap, and although- conceding long starts won her heat in 32 l-ssec and the ■ final in 3'2cec. Miss Campbell also swam well. In tlio four-man inter-olub relay Rangiora.put «)> a good performance and won, with Eaßt Cluistchureh second. During the afternoon a fine display of fancy divitlß was given by the Christohnrch diving troupe, „ In the absence.; of: the president, Mr W.
