TO-NIGHT. The reserve plan is nearly full for the grand carnival nfght programme of firstclass broadsiding "■ and novelty events to ;be staged ai Monica Park-Speedway to-night to mark the close' of the 1930-ai season. It is a very long day since such a programme with so many varied and entertaining ingredients has been presentedip Christohurch. A start will be made at 7.80 o'clock. There will be a full series of brosdaiding, with the. cream' of Ota go in contest with Canterbury riders. Ben Uswin, the Australian, now;, of Dunedln, will. be matched against Percy Lunn. In the second match race Jack Young (Otago) will be up' l against Norm. Gray, ,of Canterbury, and in the third ,an unnamed'masked rider from each province will enter the lists. There will be thrills in those races. Then there will be five races in each of the first and second division handicaps. Mr H. F. Bickerjon, of Wainoni Park, will provide a special fireworks display, and sn . exhibition of the baby car as a broadsiding medium will follow. Then five real trotters Will engage in a mile Speedway trotting race. ! Two experts will give an exhibition of buckjumping' on .fiery steeds, and the best of the City draught horses will engage in a draught horse Derby. Ben Unwin . will be on the grey.. Four experts .will race in a speedway championship on the old high bicycles. The track-rakers will provide a race of their own, and there will be eccentric cycles, The gates will be open at 6.30 o'clock.
