ROYAL CHRISTCHURCH MUSICAL SOCIETY.
At a recent meeting of the committee of the Society it was reported that Miss Benton had been appointed honorary deputy-pianist. A telegram of sympathy with Madam Winnio Fraser, owing to the fatal accident to Mr Fraser, had been forwarded. ■, " The chairman (Mr T. Andrews) stated that a (otter of-sympathy had been sent to the relatives Oi Madam Melba in their recent bereavement, through Messrs Allan and Co., Melbourne, who kindly forwarded it, and an ' acknowledgment had been received. I The Returned Soldiers' Association wrote ' asking the Society to sing the anthem on April 25th iAjm&o Day), which , was agreed . . .. • , ! Correspondence with, the Timaru ' Orchestral Society with regard to the hire of orchestral ' music, of which " the" Society has an- excellent library, was Jread and approved. Soloists for "Tannhaueer," which will be given on April 20th, were considered, and some engagements made, others being left in 1 the hands of the chairman and conductor.
