Commissioners M. F. Haze (chairman), H. Roberts; H.Blissett, H. Elmß, and T r Kelllher attended the monthly meeting of the Town Board. Commissioners Geo. Saunders and C. Borrell sent in apologies.. . , Tli® .health officer's report on visitations to premises, as asked for by the Board, -was read ; and approved. A 1 notice as Recommended was served on a ratepayer. ■ The secretary of the Sooth Canterbury Automobile Association wrote thanking the Board for-granting the free use of the Town .Ball for the orphanages' ijicnie. , The chairman said that the picnic was to have'been held' at -the river, but aa> the day turned out. to bo '• very wet, the picnickers . had' been allowed to use the hall, and had - thoroughly enjoyed the privilege. - ' The secretary of the Gala, Day Committee wrote asking what charges would bo made ■ to the committee for the use-of the hall, ! seeing that the proceeds Would eventually be devoted to hall and s domain improvement "fund*. ■ It wa»,decided that schedule charges would 'have to be fixed at present, but, that the mntter could be reviewed later. .. The dog-tax collector handed in fees amounting to £22 ss, - The 'chairman said that this was £1 15s more than last year's ■■ total.' ■ The chairman said that unemployed labour andcr the Board's >No. 5 Scheme was doing "ood-work in the township.
