OPENS TO-MORROW AT THE MATINEE. •
whTeu"ior "Ihe list'few^weisSB 1 ' has been in the hands of the decorators, will open to-morrow at 2.30 p.m. Residents of Christchurch and theatre patrons will be ' delighted at > the transformation of the old Strand. The'production chosen for the open- , ing performance is Ben- Travers's 'famous farce, "Plunder," is which the • Aldwych Theatre cast will be seen at their.beat. A talking picture that delighted the Prime Minister and the delegates to the Imperial Conference at a gala performance in London, entitled "Plunder," is one of a series of farce-comedies that- have been adapted by British and Dominion PHtn Corporation from '.celebrated;'Aldwych plays, .and is a British Ifilm tn. the same line of excellence as "Rookery Nook," which has created laughter throughout Britain, the Dominions, and the United States. It was so different from the Transatlantic idea of humour and so far superior to the average American product' that the Americans were, it is said, not at all enthusiastic in proclaiming the country of origin. ."Plunder" is the story of an "inside" burglary in which Ralph Lynn and Tom Walls play" the leading parts, and Mary Brough, as a villainous old lady, assists them in hiding the truth from the police. The box plan's are rapidly filling at The Bristol.
