Such were the declarations ,of Sir" Robert Horne and Sir Ernest Benft respectively at a great" demonstration held at Cannon Street Hotel, to reemphasise the urgent national need for public economy. Lord Grey of Fallodon supported- the "other speakers, the meeting resulting in the inauguration of a campaign, with which an influential organisation called "Friends of Economy" win stimulate the country. It was-resolved:— < That national, local,, and'' personal economies were essential to the recovery of prosperity. ' That the Government should cease all not absolutely, necessary expenditure. That citizens in other towns should hold similar meetings.—'fThe Times" cable. . ,
