HIGH-PRESSURE WATER SUPPLY.
MEETING AT RANGIORA. There was a good attendance in the Town Hall, Rangiora, last evening, at a meeting called by the Mayor, to place before the ratepayers a scheme drawn up by Mr W. Stevens, engineer, for a high-pressure water supply the borough, for which a poll is to be taken next Wednesday, ona proposal to raise a loan of £14,000. The Mayor (Mr O- S. Ayers) presided, and the Councillors, and Messrs W. Stevens (engineer), and J. Fraser (Town Clerk) were also on tne platform. , - u The proposed loan, for wnicn authority has been obtained from tn Loans Board is to be for a term of ab years, at 5| per cent. The scheme i s for the inner area of the borough only. It is expected that the average rate collectable will be about 2id in the » on the unimproved borough valuations. The Mayor, Mr Stevens, and tne Town Clerk outlined the scheme at length, and most of tne councillors intimated their support o it. At the close of the meeting a null *r ber of questions _ were asked, ana were replied to satisfactorily. ln Mayor and the other speakers were accorded a vote of thanks.
