Wool is used for clothing principalis, but probably half the world's production is absorbed for otbor purposes. Floor coverings and homo furnishings account for nearly one-third of the total output. Wool is used for belting as a substitute for leather; it provides felt for many purposes, screens for the straining of liquids, packing for machinery, and pads for pianos. The grease also is valuable. It has been stated that although there has been a heavy fall Li the price of the raw material, retail prices of all woollen commodities remain high, and this is given as the main reason for. the failure of consumption to respond to the price movemeat
