CHRISTIAN SCIENCE.
TO THE KDITOtt 0» THE PRESS. Sir,—-Your correspondent, "Onlooker," expresses the opinion that a point has Keen raised in my letters which is " demonstrably incorrect," and he then rofers to a theory of matter as consisting of electrons. The passage quoted from the Christian Science text-book by Mary Baker Eddy is not relex-ant, as I made no reference to electrons or to electricity. Tho point I made, and the point made by the Hon. .William E. Brown the ex-Senator referred to, is that physical science is now proclaiming tho unsubstantial nature of matter, and that in this it is confirming Mrs Eddy's biniilar pronouncement made over fifty years ago.—Yours, etc., CUTHBERT S. BOOTH. Christian Science Committee on Publication, December 3rd. 1900. TO Tins EDITOR 07 TH.E 3?)tESS Sir, The Rev. Tremayne Curnow's letter, published in your paper of Do comber 2nd, stirs me to write of a case of healing by Christian Science ■which I am able to prove. My daughter- underwent an operation to her nos<> She was told that the trouble was permanently cured. A few months later the trouble revived. Sho was exammed again by_ a doctor and X-rayed. Another operation was advised, and we were - told that, probably every three yrars the trouble would return. 1 decided to try Christian Science treatment, as my daughter refused to be operated on again. In three weeks she was cured without suffering any pain. _ Six years have passed, and there is no recurrence Df the troublo.lours, etc., A BELIEVER. December 2nd, 1930. TO THO EDITOK OF TffE rR.ESB. Booth evidently identifies "mortal mind" with the "carnal" or [ "sensual" mind mentioned by. St. Paul, as being at enmity against God. p l ' °f ic /does not rid the human mind of sensuality by denying tho evidence of,.fiie senses, still less by declaring, as »,lrs-. Eddy does, that mind is a mj th. It is rather like curing a baby Of croup by getting rid of the baby. Medical science takes th-o other course, and gets rid of the-croiiw. The . bodily Benses play a great part in the discoveryof disease, both in our- I selves and in others. But that is not i to say t.hat they produce disease—a contention, which reminds me of the woman who was sweeping a room one I
morning, and saw the millions of motes of dust dancing in the sunbeams. So she drew the blinds, "because," as she paid, "the sunshine makes such a lot of dust."—Tours, etc., tkemaynk m. cue now. .Faith's Vicarage, Xcw Brighton. !
