WORKMEN FALL TBBMIOK ROOF. ONE SERIOUSLY HVfHV. When two bricklayers missed kfertg footing while working on theroof of (| building in Sydenham yesterday rfted noon and fell about twenty feet to tfafc floor below, one of them, Frank Soaae% a middle-aged man, suffered serious injuries. The other, S. Marshall, watt also hurt, but after being treated in the outpatients' ward of the Christchnreh Hospital was discharged. Both men were employed by- JA? George Simpson on the eonstrnetioqt work of a new factory building fef. Byron street, Sydenham- The roof m* half-completed, and in soma -tray men, who were working on it, slipped and fell through a space between the rafters. Soanes, who lives at 108 3Bdward avenue, Bt. Albans, suffered the most severe hurts, and was taken to the Christchurch Hospital in a semi-eon-scious state by the free ambulance of the St. John Ambulance Association. Admitted at about 2.30 o'clock, he was treated for head injuries and a damaged ankle, and last night it was reported that he was on the seriously ill list.
Marshall, who gave his address u Poulson street, Addington, was admitted to the outpatients' ward of the Hospital with injuries to his chest, but after receiving treatment ha vm discharged. MOTOR-CYCLIST HURT. As a result of colliding with a motorcar at the Hospital corner early yesterday morning, a motor-cyclist, Cyril Wilson, aged 23, of 29 Alliance street, Lower Riccarton, suffered injuries to a leg. He was admitted to the Ukxpital at 8 a.m., but his condition is not serious.
