■ WEST INDIES V. WELLINGTON. RAIN CAUSES GAME TO BE ABANDONED. (raiss ASSOCIATION TILIGBAit.) WELLINGTON, November 13. Rain this morning prevented play in the" game by the West Indies team against Wellington. By 2 o'clock it was. bright and sunny, and the visitors continued theij innings. The wind soon veered to the south, however, and heavy rain began, and the game was abandoned at 3.36 p.m., when tho visitors' score stood at 128 for four wickets. With two wickets down for 23 in reply to Wellington's 195, Hunt© (5) and Headley, the Bradman of the West Indies, resumed their innings. After the pair had exactly doubled, the score, Headley was snapped up by Hankins behind the wicket off Newman. Birkett, the vice-captain, a tall youthful right-hander from Trinidad, came next, and helped Hunte to carry the score along to 60 where the wicket-keeper, who had contributed 18, was nicely taken by Hepburn at cover off Blundell. Martin, the Jamaican left harider, then commenced a useful partnership with Birkett. Several changes were made in the bowling. At 119 Blundell took the ball from Parsloe, whose eight overs had cost 23 runs. Birkett placed Newman to leg for three, and drove Blundell past cover to the pickets. Mallet, manager of the team, said th»t the cricketers of England were eagerly looking forward to the visit of the New Zealand team next year on account of the most favourable impression the team from the Dominion had created in 1927. The West Indies cricketers wished the New Zealanders every success in England. The visitors left for Auckland by the express train, and will Bail from Auckland for Sydney to-morrow. The Australian tour will commence with a match against New South Wales at Sydney on November 21st, and will conclude witli the fifth Test in Sydney on March 4th. The team is aue back in Wellington on March 10th, and will sail the next day. SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION. At the monthly meeting of delegates of the Suburban Cricket Association, Mr H. W. Rogers presided. A motion of sympathy with the relatives o£ Mr 0. B. Price, of the City Council Club, was carried. The captains of the Stewart's Gully A and j Railway third grade teams attended in connexion with a dispute which arose on the day of their match regarding the decision to abandon play on account of rain, and it was decided to declare the match a draw. j The Beckenham Club asked for a ruling on the Melhuish shield rules, and the chairman's ruling, which stated that a team could only be entered once, was agreed to. A discrepancy in the score-books caused a dispute over the result of the Shirley y. Stewart's Gully A third grade match, and it was decided to replay the game if affecting the competition. Tho register-keeper reported that the City Council Club had played a man in their match against Whitcombe and Tombs without a permit and the match which was won by the Council team was awarded to Whitcombe and T °The'register-keeper reported several teams for non-delivery of result forms, and it was decided to enforce the rule.
