WEMJNGTON, November 13. Applications for registration under the Unemployment Act have practically ceased, and it is estimated by the Post Office authorities th#t a total of 440,000 had registered throughout the country up to to-" night. On Tuesday night, when the time for registration nominally expired, applications received numbered , |lio,ooo, but the SO,OOO registrations that come to hand after that were n<st nil necessarily made after the due date. It is considered that comparsi-' tivel.v few applications remain outstanding. ■ . The book of coupons issued to those who register contains eight connote and receipt forms, covering the quarterly payments to- be made over a period of two years. The coupon, which has to be filled in by the contributor, provides space for tne name and address of the contributor, together with.the name and address of the employer, if any. These coupons, which'vary in colour, contain the information that if the levy is not paid within' One month of the due date, a penalty of sixpence will be lidded for every month or part of a month after the first month for which tho payment is iu arrears. The book may .be preeented to any money order office for the putpose of making payment.
