That the regional planning scheme under the Town Planning Act was premature, and that the expenditure of any money whatever on the proposal wa* unwarranted, was the unanimous opinion expressed at a conference of local body representatives. The conference was called by the Mayor of - Gisborna (Mr D. W. Coleroan) to enable the scheme to be discussed. A resolution was passed approving, with one exception, the boundaries proposed for the Gi6borne regional area, but asking that the whole question be deferred indefinitely owing to the economic condition of the noantry.
