AMBULANCE BRIGADE.

WORK OF THE WEEK. The No. 1 Gii-1 Guide Nursing Division had a good attendance at their regular meeting on Tuesday last. The Divisional Surgeon, Dr. L. C. L. Averill, attended the meeting, and gave a very interesting and instructive lecture on* home nursing, at ; the conclusion of which he was accorded a vote (it thanks. At a previous meeting, the .Lady Superintendent, Miss J. Harper, complimented members of sqtiads on the results obtained at the recent corps competitions, and also announced the arrangements now iu hand foi the district competitions, to be held on Labour Day. Mr J Becconsall, District Officer for Public Dutios, who was also in attendance, gave a series of first-aid tests to the Cadet Divisions, and Miss Harper gave the senior members some practical "work in home nursing. Mr Hecconsall received a hearty vote of thanks at the conclusion of the meeting. . . Tho Christchurch Nursing Division had their regular meeting on Monday evening, at the Brigade roomd, in Gloucester street. The Lady Superintendent of the Division presided over a good attendance, and Mrs Watkins gave members an interesting address oil first-aid treatment of pneumonia, atid demonstrated the use of a jacket, and the method of securing poultices by means of roller bandages. Other complaints of a similar nature were also dealt with, and' some members were taken in first aid tests. _ i Captain Penke, who was visiting the Division, gave some instruction in stretcher, drill, which was much preciated. Reports were received from one member of the Division who had given home nursing attention in three cases of sickness during the week: It is interesting to note that tho City traffic inspectors, who recently qualified in first aid, have commenced a further course < of instruction, pending their joining qp with one of the Divisions.
