"THIS MAD WORLD." '• / The main picture at the Theatre Royal this week, "This Mad ~ World," tells »n engrossing story of the age-old «.onflict between l6ve and patriotism. It is an English aduptation of a French war play.. The action takes place daring Uie German occupation of - Alsace Lorraine in, the Great War. While Victoria (Kay Johnson). the wife of a German general, is staying at the home of a loyal French woman, the latter's son, an espionage agent in the French Army, arrives. A. battle of wits ends in an-irregular lore affair, and many sensational incidents. "CAUGHT SHORT." It was inevitable that the stock market crash on Wall Street should inspire the writers of Hollywood, and hence it is that Marie Dressier and Polly, Moran cavort across the screen in an uproarious comedy entitled "Caught Short.' 1 "Caught - Short" concerns thy successes of Polly Moran, landlady, in the late Jam ented "bull" marlvt. and the eventual capitulation of her more conservative friend Marie Dressier. Anita Page and Charles Morton furnish the juvenile love interest of the comedy.
