FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. The fortnightly meeting of the Chmtcliurch Tramway Board was held yesterday afternoon, those present being Messrs \V. Hay ward (chairman), E. H. Andrews, H. Pearce, G. T. Booth. J. Wood. W. J. Walter, W. Williamson, Mrs E. R. McCombs, and Mr Frank Thompson (general manager). , . , The resolution was passed making 'the, special order for the New Brighton bridge loan of £SOOO. This represents the Board's contribution towards the cost of "the structure, double tram tracks thereon and approaches, and of preparing the roll of electors, and .the dost of raising the loan. Ihe other contributors. are tho Christchurch City Council, New Brighton Borough Council, and Heatncote County Council. October Ist, 1950, is the date on which the loan is repayable. The security is a special rate over a defined area to provide interest at the rate of £5 10s per cent, per annum, arid sinking fund of £3 # per cent, per annum. The special order also provides for the striking of h special rate of ,0037439 d in the £ on the capital value of all rateable property in the special area dm-mg the currency of the loan, or until it is tul'J paid off. the rate to be collected by the local bodies controlling the areas affected. _ ...
