RIVETS STARTED IN HULL. (.rasas, association rm,s,as.\u.i AUCKLAND, September'-'.20, ' The Union Company's Kiwitea, bound from Auckland to Westport, commenced to make water in No. 2 hold last Wednesday and returned to Auck-land-last night. 'lt was believed that tho ballast tank had sprung a-leak, but since her return here it' has been discovered that there was an opening in the hull through the starting of the rivets. • ; "We had a terrible time," snid a member of the crew to-day. "We began to think we were a second Tahiti disaster." THE KOSMOS SAILS. 'Pi*3» i.iOUATIOX TCLZGSAX.) WELLINGTON, September 20. The whaling factory ship Kosmos, accompanied by her seven chasers, left Wellington at 11.45 o'clock this morning for the Rosa Sea. At 8 o'clock the Kosmos pulled out from her berth at the Pipitea Wharf to the stream, where she reloaded the explosives that have been stored for the last few days at Shelly Bay. Prior to sailing, three stowaways were found on board, and they were immediately sent- ashore again. The Kosmos intends to carry out whaling operations in the vicinity of the Ross Sea, and should be away for six months, returning to Wellington about next March.
