AGITATION FOR. HALL, That the time has now-arrived, when it is essential that.they should „ be better served in the way of a suitable hall for social gatherings and - meetings is recognised by-Mount 4 Pleasant residents, and on Saturday evening a public meeting was held in Mr Campbell's new garage for the purpose ot discussing ways and means of arranging - the f necessary t finance. ;'• Considering the aiuf avourable . conditions bunder -which the meeting was held the attendance of .26 • residents, over whom the Bev.S.Jjawry presided, was considered excellent.:
Mr A.:G.; Williams, the Mount. Pleasant 'representative of the Heathcote County Council, .explained , the,, purpose of ■■ the: meeting, and ..submitted the following motion^: "As ratepayers • of • \ the , Mount Pleasant-riding of the County ot Heathcote we believe that the best in-terests-of Mount Pleasant can be served. by the sub-division and sale of part of '-the . quarry site. Riven ~; . by Messrs Scott Bros., and vested? in the County Council, - all after paying the expenses of sub-division and sale to be ear-marked for the purpose of a public hall for the district, the' hall to be the property of the County Council." ~.».,,, Tlie motion was seconded by Mr «. R. Webb. ' -, _ A general discussion ensued, those speaking in support of tho beine Messrs S.'Mander. W. RWebb,J T. Bell. B Riley, and W/D/Thier. -' Finally, on theimotion of Mr'Webb, seconded by Mr S.
