Enterprise won the. fourth raco of the series for the America's Cup at Newport. She beat Shamrock after a thrilling race by over a mile and retained the Cup. There are still three races to be run. The yachts got away -at 10.40, Shamrock securing the weather berth crossing the ljne on the starooard ..tack, with Enterprise footing it faster. The. breeze was steady at ten'knots, with little sea, favouring the challenger, ivhich tacked "to :port a. few minutes later, followed, by Enterpriso. . The smallest fleet of\ spectators .of the series was- present. Shamrock, driving into the freshening- breeze at four teen-knots in a choppy sea, .overcame the slight 'lead secured by Enterprise after the start, and opened vpa :JBO yard gap over the defender, whiih wsis carrying .mainsail, jib, find jib-topsail; Shamrock was under mainsail sind jib. Although-Enterprise , had worked to weather Shamrock outfooted her, opening up a lead in. the first •20 minutes-in a choppy sea, which was believed to be unsuitable for her.
