"THE PRESS" RELIEF FUND.
ANOTHER BIG PAYMENT TO THE MAYOR. Yesterday the Mayor made a further oall on Thk Prkss relief fund, and we were able to add £ll9 Is fld $o the sum of £124 10s banded to him a week ago. Then a further ram of £lO 8s came to hand during the evening, ao that our total has now reached £253 Us 6d. It will also, we are sure, be of general interest if we point out that one factor which is keeping-this stream of philanthropy flowing is the knowledge our readers have that their gifts go direct to the women and children. For example, while "Rimu's" contribution was "very willingly seat as a subscription towards our women and children's charity fund," "Stymied" earmarked his for "women and children who are in need," and expressly stipulated that it was "not to be used for the unemployed who will not work." As our whole fund is distributed on these terms, no one who can afford to help need be anxious about the destination of any contribution big or small. The following contributions have already been received:— 4 £ s. d.
