A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
METHVEN. The annual meeting of members of the Methven A. and P. Association was held on Monday evening when Mr E. A. Bland prosided over a large attendance. Messrs J. H. McKendry, R. Drummond, F. Thompson, I. Watson, E. Watson, Jesse btono, and Geo. Ireland were elected members of the Association. The annual report and balance-sheet, as printed and circulated, were adopted. Referring to the results of the past year, the retiring president (Mr Bland) said that the Association was to be congratulated ou the success of its efforts. He congratulated Mr A. Goodwin, of Lauriston, on his successes in winning both the oats and wheat stacking competitions. He also congratulated Mr H. J. Freeman, of Highbank, who had won the Ashburton County Flock Ewe Cup. After discussion, Mr S. G. Holmes moved that it be a recommendation to the Council of Agriculture that a forfeit list be instituted similar to that in force by sports bodies, and that no competitor be allowed to exhibit while any fees are outstanding. The treasurer (Mr H. Green), referring to the credit balance in hand, said that the Association should consider paying off part of the mortgage. He moved that it be a recommendation to the incoming committeo that they should reduce the mortgage by £2OO this year.—Carried. The report and balance-sheet were'adopted. A vote of thanks was accorded the donors. The president, on behalf of the committee, presented to Mr Alex Geddes the New Zealand Clydesdale Society's medal for champion two-year-old filly for 1930. He congratulated Mr Geddes on his meritoriouß win, and wished him many further successes. The president also presented Mr 11. J. Freeman with his prize as winner of the flock' ewe competition, and congratulated him on his success. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr F. S. McDonald; vice-president, Mr A. F. Marr: hou. treasurer, Mr H. Green; committee. Messrs H. J. Freeman, Alex. Geddes, Chas. Hale, R. D. Millar, Geo. Callaghan, W. C. Lowery, W. S. Jones, S. Campbell, J. Buddenklau, S. Robinson, W. C. Spray, Geo. Kelly, W. F. Reynolds, E. G. Body, 0. H. Watson, A. Campion, t>. Hampton, S. G. Holmes, G. A. Franks, and M. Macale. In vacating the chair, Mr Bland thanked the committee and members for the support they had given him. Messrs R. F. Renai and A. W. Bremer were reappointed hon. auditors; and a voto of thanks wa3 passed to them for their paßt services. Special mention was made of the work or the hon. treasurer (Mr H. Green). A vote of thanks was passed to him. Mr Carr moved a vote of thanks to the retiring president, and congratulated him on the success of the Association during his year of office. He had done an immense amount of valuable work for the Association, and had filled the office of president with credit. • The motion was seconded by Mr McDonald, and carried with hearty applause. At the conclusion of the annual meeting those present adjourned to the Town Hall, where a smoke social was held. A lengthy toast list was honoured, and musical contributions were enjoyed.
