SHIPPING NOTES.

Tha motor-ship King John is now expected to nail to-day for Port Chalmers to comploto discharge of her cargo of phosphates. The Port Waikato should arrive this morning Irom Timaru to load for Taurangu, Whangarei, and Dargaville. The Himatangi is due to-morrow from the south to load for Wellington, Wanganui, and loiton.

The Foxton is due to-day from Foxton, and is to load here for the return trip. The Totara should be' hero to-day from Timaru,' and loads for New Plymouth. Shu fsujlsvia Wellington. , The Gale is an expected arrival to-mor-row from Wellington. She is to sail in the afternoon with - ca-rgo for Dunedin, Oamaru, and Timaru, and is due back on Tuesday to load for Wellington and Wanganui. The Progress is an expected arrival on Saturday from Timaru to load for Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato. The Storm is to load at this port to-mor-row for Wellington and Wanganui. The Kuku is to load here on Saturday for Kelson.

The Kaituna arrived yesterday from Portland, via Napier, and Wellington. Sho is discharging cement, and i 3 to sail to-day for Greymouth. s

The Karetu is taking in a largo cargo here for Auckland, Newcastle, and Sydney, and is to sail to-morrow for Auckland direct. The Waimarino should arrive back horc on Sunday from the south, and will load on Monday for Auckland. The Parera should arrive here on Saturday from- Gisborne, and is to load hero for Waikokopu, Whangarei, and Dargaville. The N.Z. Shipping Company's Rangitata sailed from Auckland early yesterday morning for Southampton and London, via Panama. The Niagara is to leave Sydney at 4 p.m. to-day for Auckland, and is due at Auckland on Monday. She'is to sail on Tuesday for Suva, Honolulu, and Vancouver.

The Wainui is to load here to-morrow for Napier and Gisborne, sailing via Wellington. The Opihi is timed load here on Tuesday for Nelson and Now Plymouth. The Wingatui is expected at Lyttelton on September 27th from Auckland and Wellington, and is to sail the same day for Dunediu, Bluff, and Timaru.

Captain C. Elders recently resumed com mand of the Wdipiata after holidays, Cap tain J. Rankino coming ashore for instruc tions.
