ALLEGED MURDER.
——-♦- INQUEST ON MHS TOWNSEND ADJOURNED. (PBfiSS ASSOCIATION TBrxEOKiM.) NEW PLYMOUTH, September 17. The inquest on Cora Alice Townsend. a married woman, residing at Fitzroy, who is alleged to have been murdered by her husband, Alexander Townsend, on Tuesday morning, was formally opened this morning by Mr It. W. Tate, S.M., and adjourned till Wednesday next, when a further adjournment will be sought. The inquest and the lower Court proceedinjgs on the indictable charge will be heard together. It appears that the man who was arrested walked to Waitara, carrying a loaded shotgun, on Tuesday morning. He hired a taxi and went to the house of the factory manager at Oneroa, Mr F. Huse. where his sister-in-law, Mrs Huse, lived. Later be drove on to Urenui. Huse advised the Waitara police, and Constable 1j» Pouple reached the Oneroa bouse aa the roan returned there. The constable handcuffed the man. who resisted, but wa* brought to New Plymouth. Tho gun was in .the car, but it had been unloaded by the taxi drive l "-
