In the Heathcote County a reduction in rates has been possible all round this year except in a triangular area abutting Kerr's road, which conies within the Drainage Board's £700,000 sewerage extension loan area. Here there has been an increase in common with other districts in this sewerage area. Own Sewerage System. The fact that Heathcote has a sewerage and water system of its own makes the rates for those urban areas within its boundary outstandingly moderate in comparison with the City and the other suburban areas. The reason is that, but for a small portion, the county is not saddled with a £700,000 sewerage extension loan. These facilities cost the urban ratepayers in Cashmere, for instance, comparatively little. .
