There was a good attendance on Tuesday night, when a concert and dance were held to augment the funds of St. Mark's Anglican Church. The programme, which was much enjoyed, was given by the South Springston Amateur Dramatic Society, the items being as follows i—Chorus songs by the girls, solos by Mrs L. R. Dulieu, duets by Misses 0. and M, Cook, M. Hughes and J. Wright, recitations by Miss M. Woods, and two highly amusing plays entitled "A Matrimonial Bureau 5 ' and "A Quiet Little Dinner." Miss Chapman was accompanist. At the eoncjusion of the programme Mr E, Stalker thanked the players for their assistance, a hearty vote of thanks and appreciation being carried. Supper was served and the floor was afterwards cleared for dancing, the musie being supplied by Mesdames A. H, Clark, Marks, and Miss Chapman. Mr E, Stalker was M,C, LITTLE RIVER. Mr F, Stanbury and Mr H. MUligan, representing the kittle River Main School Committee, waited upon the Wairewa County Council and asked that a footpath be formed from Lmes'a coiner to the mam school. Mr Charles Reed, when riding a motor-cycle round the Wharf road, collided with a motor-lorry and suffered a fractured leg. He was conveyed to Akaroa, where a doctor ordered his removal to the Chrlstchurcb Hospital. While walking along a bank, Mrs E. Hartley dislocated one of her knees and fell on a concrete yard. She received a severe . shaking and a badly wrenched elbow. Mr F. C. Milne, who has been manager of the Okain's Bay Dairy Factory for the past five years, has been appointed manager at Wright's Bush, Southland. There were thirty-six applications for the position vacated by Mr Milne. Mr Marshall, manager of the Qmimi Dairy Company, Dunedin, was the successful applicant. . Very successful anniversary services in connexion with the Greenpark Methodist Sunday School were held on Sunday, when the Rev. J. P. Jack, of Riccarton, conducted service in the church, mornlhir, afternoon, and evening, TJie after, noon service was a special children* service, at which the annual distribution of prizes to the scholar* was made, On Monday a tea was held in the hall, and the tea was followed by a public meeting. ' A lengthy programme of items by the scholars, interspersed with items by the choir, and addresses by ministers was presented. Recitations were given by Norma Jarman, P. Dean, lan Blaikie, Nancy Needham, Margaret Jarman, John Clarkson, Pearl Jack, Athene Early, Robert Clarkson, Dorothy Black, Molly Stephens, Nerojj Jarman, Burton Jarman, George Dean, « duet by Norma Jarman and Athene Early, and a song by Burton Jarman. Addresses were given by the Revs. E. T. Jones (Baptist), J. F. Jack, and A. L. White°At the annual meeting of the Greendale Tennis Club Mr H. B. Shipley presided. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £lB 10s 3d. It was decided to have the courts top-dressed. Opening day was fixed for Saturday, September 37th. It was agreed to have 30 copies or the evidence given before tho Commission prepared, and bound at a cost not exceeding £75, for distribution to intrested bodies. The meeting agreed that the balance in hand after meeting all expenses should be handed back to the contributing bodies on a pro rata basis, with the suggestion that it be spent on unemployment.
