ANCIENT ROMAN FLOOR.
DISCOVERY ON SITE OF VERULAM. (BRITISH OrPICIAL WIRELESS.) (Received September 14th, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, September 12. One of the most beautiful Roman coloured floors yet found in Britain has been discovered at St. Albans, Hertfordshire, on the site of Verulain, the first great Roman city of Britain. The design represents a rising sun, and after 1800 years the colours still remain bright, although the mortar between the small square stones was damaged. The floor was found under only two feet of earth.
