RAILWAY EXCURSIONS.

TRIP TO FRANZ JOSEF. The combined train and motor excursion to the Franz Josef Glacier, which has been arranged by the Railway Department, leaves thiß morning at 9.85 a.m. The bookings have been very light indeed, and the ordinary tram, which usually leaves at 8.20 a.m., is being delayed to enable the excursionists to make their connexions with other services without unecessary waiting. The party is due to return on September 20th. The Arthur's Pass excursion train yesterday was less well patronised than usual, but the Timaru excursion attracted more than usual. It 'is anticipated that from now on there will be increasingly greater numbers travelling to Timaru on SundayI#. 1 #.
